About the Speaker Based in Atlanta, GA, Craig has over 25 years of public accounting experience. Craig began his career in Federal Tax and subsequently, in 1991 began specializing in State and Local Tax. Formerly with two of the “Big Four” firms, Craig has expertise in sales and use tax, and income and franchise tax. While he was with the Big Four, Craig held various leadership roles, including West Area Income/Franchise Leader and West Area State and Local Tax Practice Leader. Craig has advised clients on a variety of matters, such as multi-state tax planning, tax controversy matters, accounting for income taxes, state tax consequences of mergers and acquisitions and state tax compliance. Craig has worked extensively with clients in the software and telecommunication industries. Craig initially developed his specialty in telecommunication while in Atlanta working on a major telecommunication provider. Craig had further exposure to this area while working on numerous clients in the Silicon Valley. |
Craig will discuss sales taxation of services, focusing on a few key states that impose a sales tax on either data processing services, information services or Software as a Service. His discussion will include application of the states’ broad definitions and interpretations and the situsing of the transaction when multiple states are involved in the transactions. |
